Too busy for a dental check-up?
21 February 2020We all lead busy lives and it can be tricky to try to fit everything in. There’s the everyday stuff, like the school run and the commute to work, the household chores such as the ironing and cooking dinner, and then fun things like keeping your social life alive.
It’s little wonder then that so many of us put off those little extras like dental check-ups, it can be hard to find the time and justify the cost. However, here at Crendon Dental Centre in High Wycombe, we find that putting off one appointment often leads to long gaps between visits and that’s when problems can start to occur with your dental health.
For most patients at Crendon Dental Centre we recommend six-monthly check-ups. That’s only twice a year but we are aware that when that appointment rolls around there’s probably something else you’d rather be doing. That’s why we want to tell you how important your check-ups are and why you should really value them.
Why is your dental check-up important?
During your dental check-up, we look at your whole mouth, not just your teeth. That’s because your gums are really important and sometimes, they need a little love. Plaque likes to build up even if you have the best home care regime, and this can cause gum disease. If we spot it early we can work with you with preventative care to reverse it and prevent any damage such as tooth loss.
We will, of course, check your teeth for signs of decay or wear and tear that might require treatment. Spotting anything like this early on allows us to intervene sooner, which means less treatment is required, thus saving you time and money.
We will also check all of the soft tissue inside your mouth, even feeling around your cheeks and neck too. Why? At every dental check-up we screen for the signs and symptoms of oral cancer. As dental professionals, we know exactly what to look out for and regular attendance means that if there’s anything to be concerned about we can spot it early on.
And there’s one more thing… we love seeing you! It’s really important to us at Crendon Dental Centre that our patients enjoy healthy, happy smiles and regular dental check-ups really do help you to achieve just that. So, if you’re due an appointment, contact us online or give us a call on 01484 528153.
