Is your smile ready to sparkle?
22 September 2020As we say goodbye to summer and prepare for the onset of Autumn, it’s time to start thinking about our new-season wardrobe. Whether you’re mourning the loss of short sleeves or looking forward to cosy knits, the must-have accessory you need this season is a bright, white smile!
One of the easiest and most effective ways to give your smile a boost is with teeth whitening. This is a really popular treatment here at Crendon Dental Centre because it is safe, effective and suitable for most patients.
You may have tried over-the-counter products before with little to no effect, and that’s where professional teeth whitening systems will make the world of difference. The products prescribed by your dental team contain the highest strengths legally available in the UK, so you know you are receiving the very best treatment that is proven to work.
Did you know…
In the UK, teeth whitening is classed as ‘the practice of dentistry’, meaning that, by law, only dentally trained individuals (dentists, dental hygienists and dental therapists) can prescribe teeth whitening. Anyone offering teeth whitening who is not a dental professional (such as in a beauty salon) is doing so illegally.
How teeth whitening works
At Crendon Dental Centre, we offer two different teeth whitening brands, Boutique Whitening and Enlighten, and your dentist will be able to explain which one they recommend for you and why. Our team have tried both systems because we only offer products that we know and love!
You will require an appointment first so that we can check that your teeth and gums are healthy and everything looks good for whitening to go ahead. If it is, we will discuss the treatment and decide with you which one is best for you and your lifestyle. We will then take an impression of your teeth, which is then sent to the dental lab for your bespoke whitening trays to be made.
When your trays are ready, we will make an appointment for you to collect them and your whitening kit. We will explain how to apply the gel and how long to wear the trays for.
How long does teeth whitening take?
Once you have your kit and are ready to go, you should apply the gel as shown by your dentist and wear the trays every day for the correct amount of time. Most patients start to see the shade lifting after around a week of continuous use and will usually achieve their desired shade after two to three weeks.
Be patient and don’t be tempted to add more gel to your trays. This doesn’t speed up the process, it simply wastes your precious gel… less is more when it comes to teeth whitening!
