Does placing an implant hurt?

19 July 2022

This is the most common question we are asked when discussing implant with our patients. For many people, dental implant surgery is a scary thing which we completely understand, but the procedure itself is not as frightening as you may think.

The procedure of placing an implant shouldn’t hurt. We will administer a local anaesthetic to ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible while still being able to communicate with people around you.

After the placement, there might be some discomfort as your mouth and jaw heal. Typically, you could experience some pain and tenderness for up to 10 days after the surgery, with swelling that should subside after the 3-5 days.

We are proud to provide the best quality implants by Nobel Biocare. If you are looking for something that would last for decades, these implants are an ideal solution.
